Bali and Jakarta, Indonesia

Eat, Pray, Love..this has been my inspiration of really wanting to go to Bali. I also watched the Korean drama Memories of Bali which made me even want to go more.

I got here via Jet Star from Singapore (PhP3,000 one way), not a sale fare but took it anyway. We had a delayed flight and offered us free meals. Travel time is around 3 hours so we arrived in Bali at around 2AM. Ngurah Rai International Airport was nice but their Domestic Terminal was not so good. Facilities are old and service at the check-in is way too slowly and inefficient. We quite had a hassle on our flight going to Jakarta. The service is better at the International Terminal.

Stayed at Best Western Hotel in Kuta, Bali for 2 days. I booked it at http://www.agoda.com/

We booked our city tour at the hotel lobby. Whole day tour cost IDR250,000 (approximately PhP2,000). Malika, our tour guide and driver, happens to be the friend of the son of Ketut Liyer, the famous Medicine Man of Bali..remember him in Eat, Pray, Love?

tourist center

Taman Ayun (Royal Family Temple) in Mengwi..Entrance fee IDR 15,000 (around PhP100)

Ulun Danu Temple (Bratan Lake)..entrance IDR 30,000 (PhP150-200)

Bali Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya Eka Karya) in Bedugul

Taman Usada...Balinese medicinal plants are kept here for collection and research.

Tanah Lot Temple...best to go here around 5:30-6:30PM..view of the sunset is breath taking..:)

Bali Rice Terraces

Eat-all-you-can at Pacung (PhP500). From a picky eater perspective, my taste buds didn't have much difficulty..hahaha..it is similar to Filipino cuisines..:)

kanin

Dinner at Jimbaran Bay

Kuta Beach..drop off at Discovery Shopping mall. At first, you really wouldn't see signs that there's a beach in the area. We entered the mall and take a look around. We went out of the other side of the mall and there right in front of us the scenic view of Kuta beach. This beach is best for surfing.

Meeting Ketut Liyer, the famous Medicine in Bali. He was also in the movie Eat, Pray, Love. According to Malika, Julia Roberts (in real life) really does go to Bali once a year met Ketut for healing.

Last stop, Krisna Shopping Center where you can buy pasalubong and souvenirs from Bali.

Checked out at Best Western Hotel and transferred to POP! Harris Hotel Denpasar Teuku Umar for an overnight stay..got curious of its' colorful and unique design. For accomodation, visit http://pophotels.com/#/welcome-page

colorful dining area

We dined at a local eatery just beside our hotel. Again, my picky taste buds adjusted well. Food is similar to Filipino cuisine but there's this one drink that I will never forget. Parang matabang na iced tea pero kakaiba ung amoy 'pag ininom mo..indescribable..hahaha

Sidetrip to Jakarta, Indonesia..it looked like Manila but the traffic is way better. Did not have much time to go around because this way just an overnight stay. The most that we did with our time was to check out the malls.

oh yes! this is in Jakarta..feels like home..:)
